Each room was developed to operate as a fully self-contained experience, equipped not only for fine dining but also for private entertainment. A younger, internationally exposed demographic has reshaped guest expectations in Macau, and the design responds by introducing spaces that are bold, contemporary, and functionally layered.

The space was designed to heighten the sense of occasion from the moment of arrival. The experience begins with an automated sliding entry that reveals a curated Moutai display wall composed of floating jewel-box vitrines in red and gold finishes. Each box is individually lit and houses rare vintage bottles, functioning both as a brand statement and a ceremonial introduction to the spaces beyond.

The entrance doors to the private suites were engineered to combine symbolic detail with precise fabrication. Each door is color coded to match the dining room’s gemstone palette and features recessed polished brass work with custom-designed handles. These doors open into halls clad in raised and fielded paneling, layered with backlit recesses to guide the transition and soften the tone.
Each room’s identity is built around a gemstone-inspired color scheme and a custom tapestry that translates symbolic Chinese motifs into contemporary textile art. These tapestries are not decorative accents but form the core of the storytelling strategy. From peacock feathers and parchment textures to butterfly wings and gold leaf, each artwork was designed and applied to walls, screens, and partitions with careful consideration for fragility, lighting, and layering.
We have 4 different color schemes. And 4 different sets of tapestry artwork.

The Sapphire Room, is a highly textured series of interwoven butterfly wings, each having a variety of cobalt, sapphire, lapis and indigo. Butterflies have long been appreciated in Chinese culture as symbols of freedom, romance and beauty. Blue being a symbol of trust, immortality and advancement. The tapestry panels have been finished in hand painted textured silk, picking out details found in the hand-woven carpets. The bar cabinetry has polished brass shelf bottle displays. The chandelier is a variety of different sized crystal butterflies ranging from clear crystal to azure blue in color.
A major design focus was placed on the tapestries that define each dining room. These were not decorative additions but primary narrative tools, applied to both walls and sliding partitions. Each set of tapestries was hand-crafted using a different visual language, ranging from peacock feathers and butterfly wings to parchment forms and woven gold silk. The artworks required careful planning, mounting, and environmental control to preserve their integrity across varying light and usage conditions.

The Emerald Room represented as peacock feather patterning and imagery. We have used viridescent greens and azure blue background textures which offset abstract imagery in the form of peacock feather silhouettes. The Peacock has been synonymous with Chinese Royalty for centuries, and symbolizes power and beauty. The emerald green representing wealth, health and harmony. The chandelier is manufactured using cut emerald crystals within a bronze cast frame which is off-set in-front of the gold ceiling dome above.
The restaurant also displays an extensive collection of rare Moutai and fine wines, showcased through integrated bar cabinets finished in polished brass and custom lacquer. These features are not only aesthetic focal points but are part of the guest ritual, reinforcing the premium positioning of the space.

The Ruby Room, focuses on the thin layers of leaf parchment which take on the hues of autumn with rich textured rusts, ruby reds and cherry. The detail of the parchment has been amplified and used in artwork for the walls and carpets. Birds in flight, trees with stenciled gold leaf outlines are overlaid onto abstract mountain scenes. Trees and leaves having the blessing of fertility and growth, reds representing energy, celebration, luck, joy and happiness. The chandelier depicts delicate leaf forms which are clustered into a soft cloud floating above the dining table.
Across all rooms, lighting was treated as a sculptural element. Chandeliers were custom-designed to align with each room’s theme, from clustered leaf forms in the Ruby Room to crystal butterflies in the Sapphire Room. Supporting details such as lacquered entrance doors, recessed brass handles, and jewelry-like bar cabinets reinforce the design consistency at every level.

We have two Gold Rooms which interlock, the tapestries being representative of woven gold leaf, with cranes in pairs flying upwards to the sun on gold silk thread panels. Cranes have a spiritual meaning where they are a form of divine bird which travel between heaven and the man's world, recognised for wisdom, nobility and longevity. Gold representing wealth, prosperity and good fortune. The Bar cabinets in each room are beautiful jewelry cabinets in a custom gold lacquer and lined with polished brass, showcasing vintage Moutai. The chandelier depicts the contrast between white sparkling crystals emblazoned onto gold jewelry.
A key challenge was ensuring that every component, from concealed KTV systems to standalone bar counters and cooking stations, could be integrated discreetly without compromising the design intent. All technical elements are hidden behind custom sliding panels, preserving a clean visual language while maintaining full operational flexibility.

By unifying cultural symbolism, contemporary guest expectations, and fabrication precision, Grand Imperial Court delivers a multi-sensory environment that adapts to both celebration and privacy. Every element was designed to contribute to an immersive setting where visual impact is matched by material quality and spatial control.
Grand Imperial Court is not a singular dining hall but a curated sequence of sensory experiences. The project elevates the concept of private dining in Macau, setting a benchmark that merges cultural richness with modern expectations for luxury, entertainment, and privacy.
